A proof before we print
Custom orders get a PDF proof to approve — nothing prints without your okay.
A 1920s press in the Exchange
Paper Kite Press is one room in Winnipeg's Exchange District and a cast-iron press that was already old when our grandparents were born. We found it in a barn, cleaned it up over a winter and printed our first card that spring.
Each sheet is fed by hand, one colour at a time, so you can feel the letters pressed into the paper. It's slow, and that's the point.
For wedding invitations, we'll sit down with you over coffee before anything is printed.

Yes — we'll mail a sample pack, or come by the studio to feel them.
Do you print custom designs?
Yes, if you send a vector file. We'll check it'll print well first.

Refund policy
Cards and prints can come back unused within 30 days. Custom invitations can't, once you've approved the proof.
Cancellation policy
Write to us to cancel: we start on your order the day it comes in. Invitations are free to cancel until you approve the proof.
Pickup policy
Custom orders wait for a month after we email you that they're ready.
